The DC-MD-VA chapter gave two awards this year: the Caroline Backlund Travel Award and the Diversity Award. The Backlund Travel Award provides $500 for a member to use toward attending the national conference. This year’s recipient was Phyllis Graham, of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece. (Phyllis had previously lived and worked in the Washington, D.C. area, and had retained her membership in the DC-MD-VA chapter).
